McDonald’s? I’m not lovin’ it.
I hate seeing girls who I follow struggle over eating a meal from there, or some other fast food institution.
I hate that they have made their brand world-wide through the production of cheap, unhealthy food that is PACKED with additives.
I hate that it’s a hugely unethical company.
I hate that “healthy” people will blindly eat from there despite all the horror stories you hear.
I hate that McDonald’s is doing a lot more to HARM the world than to help it.
I’m not going to sugarcoat this. Almost everyday I come on tumblr just to see someone posting about how they ate McDonald’s and they either a) regret it or b) used it as a cheat meal. I honestly DO NOT understand why you would ever want to eat food from McDonald’s.
I could not care less about the calories. But have you ever stopped to consider what else actually goes in to the food? A chicken nugget at McDonald’s is NOT just 40 calories of chicken and breadcrumbs. There are THIRTY EIGHT ingredients in a single chicken nugget, perhaps the most disturbing of which is TBHQ - an antioxidant taken from petroleum. The Omnivore’s Dilemma says :

According to A Consumer’s Dictionary of Food Additives, TBHQ is a form of butane (i.e. lighter fluid) the FDA allows processors to use sparingly in our food: It can comprise no more than 0.02 percent of the oil in a nugget. Which is probably just as well, considering that ingesting a single gram of TBHQ can cause “nausea, vomiting, ringing in the ears, delirium, a sense of suffocation, and collapse.” Ingesting five grams of TBHQ can kill.

Newsflash: your body was not designed to ingest lighter fluid.
There’s videos of four year old cheeseburgers and fries from McDonald’s which don’t look old. There is barely anything that you can eat or drink at McDonald’s which isn’t full of additives. I’m sorry to say it, but this is why you are fat. Your body doesn’t WANT to be filled with this crap. No matter how good those french fries taste, you’re eating a chemically created flavour. You thought the food naturally tasted like that? Ha! McDonald’s really tricked you.
I’m not saying you can’t eat a cheeseburger, if that’s what floats your boat. But there’s a massive difference between eating organic meat from a local butcher’s or even a supermarket, and eating meat from McDonald’s, or any other fast food chain.
You only have one body, and you only have one life. You should want to treat yourself the best that you can, by eating food that will do you good in the long term. No, NOT so you can be skinny. But so you can be HEALTHY. Not only that, but consider your future. Maybe you want to have kids; what kind of example will you be setting them by eating fast food food? Perhaps you only eat it as “a treat”. Maybe you’ll say to them, “if you’re good, we’ll go to McDonald’s.”
DON’T GLORIFY SOMETHING WHICH IS DETRIMENTAL TO YOUR HEALTH. Don’t put it on a pedestal and pretend it’s ok to have it “every once in a while”. Physically yes that’s better for you, but NOT mentally. You wouldn’t tell yourself or your child, “if you’re good, we’ll go and get you a bypass surgery so you can continue clogging up your arteries will all the hydrogenated fats in that food”. You think fast food is cheap and easy to get? Well, so is an early death if you want it bad enough.
Sort out your priorities, change your diet, and change your mindset. It might seem hard, but so what? This isn’t rocket science; anybody can choose to stop eating fast food. Make a choice.

^ this.
NEVER eating from mcdonalds again.
I mean, I only eat farm assured meat so dont eat any of the burgers anyway, but I sometimes have a mcflurry or the fries once in a while.
Now I have a final incentive to never eat anything from there ever again, whether its a burger or not.

I LOVE THIS BOOK. The title makes it seem a little iffy, but these ladies promote a vegan diet! :)

If you go through my blog you will notice I have candy bags in my hand a lot. You may ask how am I living a healthy lifestyle if I’m eating candy all the time?! Well the most important thing about a healthy lifestyle is treating yourself. If you deprive your body of treats you will just want it 100Xmore. Many people think that if they have one bad thing to eat than their diet is completely sabotaged, and that’s why you should never use the word diet.  I always say “It’s a lifestyle, there’s no way to fail when limits don’t exist” so don’t limit yourself to your favorite things in life.  You can always go for the healthier  choice, instead of having a large bowl of ice scream with chocolate syrup and sugary toppings have a bowl of frozen yogurt with nuts and fruit toppings. Moderation is the key. My favorite treat is chocolate! I always buy the 100 calorie chocolate bars at Dylan’s
via
or grab frozen yogurt at Scoops Du Jour in East Hampton. I usually put my favorite outfit on and go walk the square when I go out to treat myself, the extra scoop of frozen yogurt won’t matter if I walked it off ;)
